Alan K. Scher, MS, CPA/PFS, Partner alan@schercpa.com

Alan

As the founder of Scher Group, Alan has over 29 years of tax and accounting experience. A graduate of University of Delaware, Alan received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and economics. He also holds a Masters of Science in accounting and taxation from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1991 he joined the staff of a Denver CPA firm specializing in tax and audit services for closely held businesses. In 1994 he joined a Boulder based CPA firm where he served clients as a senior manager and was responsible for managing all aspects of tax, accounting and consulting services for a variety of business and individuals throughout the Boulder valley.

Alan founded the firm in June, 2005. Scher Group provides tax, accounting, payroll, and consulting services to individuals, businesses, and their owners throughout the United States. Alan has extensive experience in the areas of taxation, accounting, real estate consulting, and management for closely held businesses and individuals. He has focused on working with individuals, owners of service businesses, real estate investors and developers, professional practices including physicians, dentists, and engineers, among others.

Lynn S. Haga, Staff Accountant

Lynn’s focus includes tax compliance, planning, and accounting for small business and individuals. Lynn works with clients to meet their filing requirements, implement appropriate tax strategies, and calculate estimated tax payments. Lynn is skilled in QuickBooks accounting software and also assists clients in implementing and maintaining accurate sets of books. Lynn earned a B.S. in Professional Accountancy from Black Hills State University.

Lorin B. Dytell, JD, LLM-Taxation

Lorin’s primary focus is tax compliance and planning for small business and individuals. Lorin works with clients to meet their filing requirements, implement appropriate tax strategies, and calculate estimated tax payments. Lorin earned a J.D. with tax emphasis from University of Colorado School of Law, and L.L.M. in taxation from the New York University School of Law. Lorin is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Katy M. Wieting, Bookkeeper

Katy’s primary focus is bookkeeping and information reporting for small businesses. She works with clients to prepare their monthly financial statements, payroll, and sales tax reports. Katy earned an Associate Degree in accounting and business management from CollegeAmerica. Katy is also a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor, and a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.

Katie S. Essary, Jr. Accountant

Katie’s primary focus is supporting the rest of the team in providing tax, accounting and payroll services to firm clients. She has several years of experience in payroll and accounting. Katie is currently working towards her undergraduate degree.

Kelly L. Lundquist, Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

Kelly

Kelly’s background includes over 15 years of administrative and customer service experience. Within the firm Kelly is responsible for accounts receivable, contact database management, work product assembly and delivery, and scheduling. Kelly is the firm’s Notary Public, and also serves as Alan’s personal assistant. Kelly has an Associate Degree in Customer Service.
